Warships of the Northern Fleet in 2021 will continue to perform tasks to ensure a naval presence in strategically important areas of the World Ocean.
Several crews have already met the new year far from home-in the Atlantic Ocean and the seas of the Arctic Ocean. This was announced by the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Hero of Russia Alexander Moiseev, quoted by the press service of the SF.
The commander added that in 2020, the crews visited more than 30 long-distance hikes in operationally important areas of the World Ocean. They went on business visits to the ports of 12 foreign countries.
In addition, for the first time in the modern history of the Russian Navy, ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet passed north of the New Siberian Islands, Severnaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land archipelagos. The navy crossed the 82nd Parallel.
