INTERFAX - More than 10 ships of the black sea fleet (BSF), including the carriers of cruise missiles "Caliber" frigate "Admiral Grigorovich" and small missile ship "Vishny Volochek" met new year in the Russian squadron in the Mediterranean sea, reported the press service of the BSF.
"More than 10 crews of ships and support vessels of the Black Sea Fleet met the new year 2021 in the Mediterranean Sea, performing special tasks as part of the permanent grouping of the Navy," the fleet said in a statement.
In December, the press service of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation reported that the squadron included a floating workshop PM-82 with a marine unit.
The Russian squadron is in the Mediterranean Sea on a permanent basis. Russian frigates, as well as diesel submarines, have repeatedly attacked militants in Syria from the Mediterranean Sea with Kalibr cruise missiles (Almaz-Antey Concern JSC).
Russia has a naval base in the Mediterranean Sea in the Syrian port of Tartus.
