The resource capacity of the Russian d-30KP-2 aircraft engine, which is successfully operated on Il-76 aircraft of all modifications, was increased by almost one and a half times. This is stated in the official message of the power plant manufacturer PJSC "UEC-Saturn".
Success of coordinated work
The complex of works carried out, the well-coordinated interaction of the company's team, made it possible to obtain a completely tangible final result in the form of a confirmed conclusion on the strength of the D-30KP-2 aircraft engines for the established resource of 9500 hours and 4875 cycles. That, based on the initial technical characteristics, indicates an increase in the resource more than one and a half times, which extends the service life of the engine "on the wing".
The specified engine itself is characterized by high reliability, laid down in it by the outstanding designer of aircraft engines A.Solovyov. Now, with a serious increase in the resource, the power plant looks completely competitive and attractive from the point of view of consumer qualities presented in the XXI century.
Completion and obtaining almost double the resource was caused by the increased intensity of flights of the IL-76MD, as well as modifications of the TD and IL-78. As a result, the requirements of practice brought to life useful improvements and improvements of the D-30KP-2 powerplant for the above-mentioned gliders. This is evidenced by chief designer of JSC "ODK-Saturn" Roman Houses.
In pursuit of a resource
The service life of the D-30KP engine, confirmed by years of operation, is 6500 hours and 3375 cycles. After the work of the team of the manufacturer, a thorough study of literally "removed from the wing" samples of power plants, the defect of parts and assemblies, improvements were made and bench and equivalent tests of the D-30KP-2 were completed, as a result of which the design services received new resource indicators. As a result, the achieved result is recorded in the conclusion on compliance with the level of safety and reliability of engines with the regulatory requirement.
All recording of the experiment and fixing of the results were carried out with the scientific and technical support of the Central Institute of Aviation Engine Building. Baranova.
Together with the increase in the designated engine resource, the manufacturer is also working to improve the profitability of the repair of the power plant, as well as to improve the quality of the materials and alloys used to improve the market attractiveness of the D-30KP-2.
