VLADIVOSTOK, December 24. /TASS/. The modernized frigate of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) "Marshal Shaposhnikov" for the first time conducted a complex of artillery firing on air and sea targets in the Sea of Japan, the press service of the fleet reported on Thursday.
"The modernized frigate of the Pacific fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" is undergoing the final part of the factory sea trials in the sea of Japan. At the current stage, the crew, together with representatives of the industry, began testing new weapons installed on the frigate. For the first time, a complex of artillery firing on air and sea targets was conducted in Peter the Great Bay," the report says.
The fire was fired from the ship's A-190 universal artillery system, which the ship received during the modernization, and 30-millimeter six-barrel automatic artillery systems AK-630. Torpedo armament was also tested. The ship's actions at sea were provided by vessels of the auxiliary fleet and aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet.
Repair with modernization of the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" was carried out on the basis of the Ship Repair Center "Dalzavod" in Vladivostok. On the ship, the bottom and outboard fittings were repaired, part of the hull structures was replaced, new equipment was installed and modern missile strike systems were installed.
"Marshal Shaposhnikov" began service as a BOD. Modernization associated with the installation of universal ship firing systems for Kalibr-NK and Onyx missiles on it gave it new strike capabilities, thanks to which it is now classified as a frigate. In the future, it will receive hypersonic missiles "Zircon". It is expected that, following the example of the Marshal Shaposhnikov, all seven other ships of the 1155 project will be upgraded.
