Military mask
In the near future, the US army will receive special CCFC face masks to protect against COVID-19, the losses from which this year were quite comparable to combat. According to Air Force Magazine, 117,736 cases of the disease were reported among military and civilian personnel in the United States, 129 of which ended fatally.
The development and production of CCFC was carried out in an accelerated manner. Typically, the defense logistics Agency (DLA), which is responsible for the logistics support of the US army, takes no more than a year to create the necessary product. However, in the case of the coronavirus pandemic, it was necessary to act more quickly. But, as it turned out, the most powerful army in the world took almost a year to develop a simple mask from a piece of camouflage fabric. In the civil sector, this task was solved in a few days. And such an example is not isolated. So, the US army took 9 years to replace the outdated M9 pistol with the more modern Sig Sauer M17. The situation is no better with the replacement of the M2 Bradley BMP-the military is already making its fourth attempt to develop and adopt a new combat vehicle. By comparison, NASA plans to land on the moon as part of the Artemis mission in 12 years, which is only three years longer than it took army bureaucrats to replace the regular gun.
