Flight tests of the latest intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" will be conducted in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. A special training ground will be built there for this purpose next year. This was announced on Monday, December 21 at a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation by the head of the Department Sergey Shoigu.
According to him, the site for testing a promising ballistic missile will be equipped in the area of the village of Severo-Yeniseysky. The Minister referred the construction of this object to the priority tasks of the department.
It is known that the heavy Sarmat will replace the world's most powerful strategic missile RS-20V Voevoda, which in the West is nicknamed "Satan".
Last week, in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel-General Sergei Karakayev, said that now industrial enterprises continue to set readiness for state flight tests of this missile system. "Already today, in the Uzhur rocket connection, work has been launched to prepare the head missile regiment for rearmament. Putting on combat duty is planned in 2022, " Karakayev said at the time.
And at the board of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu revealed the department's plans for other strategic complexes of the Strategic Missile Forces. The Minister, in particular, said that in 2021 it is necessary to put on combat duty 13 launchers with intercontinental ballistic missiles "Yars"and " Avangard". It is also planned to complete the construction of new strategic infrastructure complexes in the missile divisions located in Kozelsk, Yasny, Uzhur, Novosibirsk and Yoshkar-Ola.
Shoigu said that due to the additional funding allocated for the production of these complexes, it is planned to reach the level of modernity of strategic nuclear forces in 88.3 percent.
