Two regiments of the strategic Missile forces (RVSN) will be re-equipped with mobile and mine-based YARS missile systems in 2021, the commander of the strategic missile forces, Colonel-General Sergei Karakayev, told reporters on the sidelines of an expanded meeting of the Board of the Russian defense Ministry.
"In 2021 we plan to re-equip another regiment Barnaul missile compound in the complex "YARS" mobile home, start upgrading the next shelf Kozelsky missile compound on mine a variant of this complex, as well as to continue upgrading Yasnenskaya missile compound at the rocket complex "Avangard", - he said.
The commander recalled that this year two regiments rearmed with the Barnaul missile compound in the complex "YARS" mobile home, completed upgrading missile regiments in the Kozelsk rocket connection on mine a variant of this complex and continues to re-Yasnenskaya missile compound at the rocket complex "Avangard".
According to him, by the end of 2020, the share of modern missile weapons in the strategic missile forces has been brought to 81%, "the strategic missile forces group will be given new opportunities to perform nuclear deterrence tasks."
Earlier it was reported that the Teikovskaya, Yoshkar-Ola, Nizhny Tagil, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk missile divisions were fully re-equipped with mobile-based YARS systems.
"YARS" (RS-24) is a strategic missile system with a solid-fuel Intercontinental ballistic missile of mobile and stationary bases with a separable warhead.
