In the Rostov region, the newest three-coordinate radar station of medium and high altitudes "Nebo-UM"has entered combat duty. According to the press service of the Southern Military District, this radar will significantly increase the ability of air defense units to detect various air targets, including low-flying and having a small reflective surface objects.

In general, with the advent of radar stations of this family in the army, the control of airspace in the areas of responsibility of anti-aircraft missile units has been seriously tightened throughout the country. For example, with the help of the previous version of the radar - "Sky-U" - the military was able to find, shoot coordinates and accompany in the air at a distance of up to 600 kilometers not only planes, helicopters and drones, but even cruise and guided missiles.

Moreover, this station allows you to remotely determine their nationality, carry out direction finding of active jamming operators and transmit their coordinates to command posts. And the radar can work both independently and as part of the control system of divisions and brigades. The Nebo-UM radar station has more advanced tactical and technical characteristics. The military does not provide details about them. However, it is known that when creating this radar, the designers changed the composition of its equipment and used a new element base there. As a result, the radar station began to work not only on aerodynamic targets, but also to detect and track missile warheads flying at medium and high altitudes. And also quickly transmit information about them to command posts or directly to the calculations of anti-aircraft systems and complexes.

Nebo is not the only modern radar station that has recently been put on combat duty. Every year, the list of such radars is updated with several objects. This allowed the Russian Defense Ministry to create a continuous radar field over the territory of Russia, in which no intruder will go unnoticed.

So, in Mordovia, a new radar station for over-the-horizon detection "Container"has been on combat duty for a year. It is capable of conducting operational and strategic reconnaissance of aircraft, including hypersonic vehicles, at a distance of more than 1,500 kilometers from our border at various altitudes.

Experts say that this radar will notify in time about the actions of the enemy's air and space attack means, detect the mass launch of its cruise missiles and detect flights of all types of aviation.

Recently, in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda, the head of the radio engineering troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Andrei Koban, said that the first node of the unified network of over-the-horizon radar reconnaissance was formed in our country. According to the general, the capabilities of the Container station allow you to control the airspace of Eastern and most of Western and Northern Europe, a number of countries in the Middle East region, including Syria.

Although the United States, Britain, France, China and Australia have similar systems, the main difference between our radar is its ability not only to conduct radar reconnaissance, but also to accumulate information on the basis of which it is easier for the command to reveal the nature of the activities of groups of aircraft of a potential enemy.

And in the Arctic for the military installed track radar systems "Sopka-2". With their help, specialists manage air traffic and control the flights of civilian and army aircraft.

Each station has a circular view, "sees" targets for 450 kilometers, even if they fly at an altitude of 35 km, and accurately gives their coordinates for 10 kilometers from the tracking point. What is very important, in a group of flying objects, the station can recognize the type of each of them. that is, in case of violation of the border, the radar will tell the anti-aircraft gunners which target should be shot down first.

The most numerous type of our Armed Forces - the Ground Forces-will soon be massively equipped with a new generation of radar stations "Niobium-SV". According to some reports, the new radar is equipped with the ability to simultaneously track up to 300 both aerodynamic (aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles) and ballistic (missile warheads) targets, including those created using stealth technology.

"niobium" will see in the sky an object the size of a square meter from a distance of 230 kilometers, even if the target is 10 thousand meters from the ground. It will be visible on the radar and at a relatively low altitude: an object flying 500 meters from the surface, the station will detect at a distance of 53 km. the viewing area of niobia-sv extends up to 500 kilometers, and at an altitude of up to 65 km.
