The Pacific Fleet will receive six corvettes with "Zircons" until 2028
Six corvettes of projects 20380 and 20385 will be delivered to the Pacific Fleet until 2028 in accordance with the contract of the Russian Defense Ministry and the Amur Shipbuilding Plant. We are talking about ships that can use hypersonic missiles "Zircon".
the russian defense ministry has signed a contract with the amur shipyard for six corvettes of projects 20380 and 20385, the press service of the military department reported.
The presence of corvettes of these projects in the Navy, according to the ministry, will make it more effective to detect and destroy submarines, surface ships, enemy vessels, as well as protect naval bases, the sea coast and sea communications.
According to a number of technical characteristics and the composition of weapons, the corvettes under construction today have no analogues in the world. in addition, they have a great modernization potential. We are talking about modern ships, equipped with the latest radar system MPRLK, a promising anti-aircraft missile complex (ZRK) "Redoubt" modern anti-ship complex "Uranium", designed for ships of the project 20380, ASW complex "Package-NK", as well as universal shipboard firing system for the project 20385 under cruise missiles "Caliber-NK". in the future, this complex will also be able to use hypersonic missiles "zircon".
The 3M22 Zircon is a Russian hypersonic anti-ship missile developed by NPO Mashinostroeniya. It is part of the 3K22 "Zircon" complex. In the North Atlantic Alliance, this product has the code designation SS-N-33. According to current plans, this missile can replace the heavy anti-ship P-700 "Granit".
The latest Russian hypersonic missile "Zircon" is capable of reaching a speed of about nine Mach. The range of its flight can exceed 1 thousand km. The rocket flies on the main section at an altitude of 30-40 km with relatively little air resistance. This altitude makes it possible to significantly increase the range and speed.
The Defense Ministry's intention to conclude a contract with the Amur Shipbuilding Plant (ASZ) for the production of six corvettes in August this year was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. He specified that these vessels should be built in eight years. At the same time, the head of the department did not specify which ships of the project will be built, but the ASZ previously built only corvettes of the project 20380.
Large contracts for the construction of military equipment for the Russian Armed Forces are usually concluded at the Army forum, but this year at Army 2020, held from August 23 to 29, corvettes were not contracted.
At the moment, corvettes of Project 20380 and its new modifications - 20385 and 20386-are being built in the Russian Federation. Of the 20380 project, six ships are already in service, including two in the Pacific Fleet. This year, it is planned to receive the corvette "Aldar Tsydenzhapov", and in 2021 - "Sharp".
it differs from the basic project by the ability to use kalibr cruise missiles. Several more Project 20380 corvettes are serving in the Baltic and Black Sea fleets.
At the end of October last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the under-construction corvette "Gremyashchy" will be equipped with the latest hypersonic missiles "Zircon". The Head of State visited the Baltic Shipyard and boarded the ship under construction. He inspected the premises, as well as familiarized himself with weapons systems and equipment.
The corvette "Gremyashchy" of project 20385 was developed by the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz". Multi-purpose corvettes of this project are used to detect and eliminate submarines and surface ships of the enemy, provide landing troops, protect the coastal zone, and also accompany other ships.
