"This complex is designed to strengthen the capabilities of the Strategic Missile Forces and strengthen the nuclear deterrent potential. It is being introduced into the combat composition of the Missile Forces instead of developing a guaranteed operational resource of mobile ground-based missile systems "Topol", " the military department said.
The Yars missile system became the basis of the Strategic Missile Forces group. "Oboronka", as noted in the Ministry of Defense, "maintains the pace of delivery to the troops" of this missile system "Yars" both in stationary and in mine and mobile versions.

It was reported that Yoshkar-Ola, Teikovo, Nizhny Tagil, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk formations were fully re-equipped with mobile-based Yars. At that time, the Kozelsky (stationary-based) and Barnaul (mobile-based) formations were in the active phase of rearmament.
Yars (RS-24)is a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile with a separable head. It replaced "Poplar".
