Large-caliber MLRS "Tornado-S", which has increased characteristics and an expanded range of rockets, will almost completely replace the existing MLRS "Smerch"and " Hurricane". In addition, the Tornado-G medium-caliber MLRS, which has an automated target guidance system, will replace the BM-21 Grad. rearmament is planned to be carried out by the end of 2027.
Modern MLRS "Tornado" is not only a means of destroying area targets, but also high-precision complexes equipped with guided missiles capable of hitting individual critical enemy objects at significant ranges, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
