The Dutch military released a video about the launch of a training MK48 torpedo from a submarine.
The nature of submarine warfare is such that during the launch, no one sees the mechanism of the torpedo tube and the torpedo thrown out of it. After loading the torpedo and the dive command, the crew of the submarine is on the other side of the sealed hull and cannot follow the chain of events.
As reported in the annotation, the shooting was carried out from the Walrus submarine. A training torpedo, unlike a normal one, rises to the surface after launch to make it easier to find it for further use.
Note that diesel-electric submarines of the Walrusklasse type were developed in the late 1970s.
All boats in the series were named after marine mammals - "Walrus", "Sea lion", "Dolphin"and " Porpoise".
