According to her, a thematic forum on space issues and satellite development was recently held on Hainan island. During the event, a number of companies signed an agreement with the industrial Park of remote sensing data in Sanya.
"We decided to invest in the Sanya city remote sensing industrial Park for several reasons," Bai Yiwei, Chairman of the Board of Xian Huanyu Satellite Control and Data Application Co, was quoted as saying by the newspaper. "First of all, it is a good ecology of the region and the favorable geographical location of the island. And secondly, these are the advantages that the Hainan free trade port will provide in the future, " he explained.
Bai Yiwei also noted that " in the future, Hainan will become one of the key places in the space industry." In addition, the Manager pointed out, " since the publication of the program for the construction of a free trade port on the island, local authorities have made even more efforts to improve and develop the world-class business environment on the island." The Sanya remote sensing data industrial Park was established in August 2016 by the Institute of remote sensing and digital earth modeling, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the government of Hainan province and Sanya city. Its key activities include research and development of satellites using remote sensing technologies in areas such as sea surface monitoring, fishing, natural disasters, and marine tourism. The industrial Park includes both scientific facilities and tourist and entertainment areas. At the time of opening, the complex housed about 30 companies.
On June 1, the CPC Central Committee and the state Council of the people's Republic of China published a program for creating a free trade port in Hainan. The document provides for several dozen targets, tasks and measures set by the country's leadership in the development of the region. According to the government's instructions, the PRC will turn the entire island into a special customs zone. The Chinese authorities plan to complete the creation of a free port in Hainan province in 2025: by this time, a system of ensuring free trade and investment should be built on the island.
