As reported by the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation, on November 20, 2020, PJSC "Almaz Shipbuilding company" in St. Petersburg, the hull of the icebreaker "evpatiy Kolovrat" (factory number 800) of the project 21180M was removed from the boathouse. It is planned that the icebreaker will be commissioned by the Navy in 2022.
Withdrawal from the boathouse of PJSC "shipbuilding firm "Almaz "the hull of the icebreaker" evpatiy Kolovrat " (factory number 800) of the project 21180M, which is under construction for the Russian Navy, was withdrawn from the boathouse. The 21180m project was developed by Vimpel Design Bureau JSC (Nizhny Novgorod). Earlier it was reported that the "evpatiy Kolovrat" will become a RAID icebreaker of the Pacific fleet for servicing bases and sea bases, with the home port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Recall that the project 21180М is a smaller and cheaper variant of diesel-electric icebreaker of project 21180 (also developed by the design office "Vympel"), which earlier on JSC "Admiralty shipyards" in St. Petersburg was built icebreaker "Ilya Muromets" (serial number 02470) total displacement of about 6000 tons, commissioned to the Navy of Russia on 30 November 2017 and included in the Northern fleet.
Initially, it was reported that a total of four project 21180 icebreakers are planned to be built for the Russian Navy. However, in early 2017, it became known that the Russian Ministry of defense, for financial reasons and based on the requirements of a lower draft, decided to abandon the continuation of the construction of the project 21180 series and proceed to the construction of a small-sitting icebreaker of the modified (and in fact completely new) project 21180M with a total displacement of about 4,000 tons. The state contract for the construction of the head icebreaker of the 21180m project worth about 6 billion rubles was issued in 2017 to PJSC "Almaz Shipbuilding company". The lead icebreaker of this project was laid down there under the name "evpatiy Kolovrat" (factory number 800) on December 12, 2018.
The project 21180m icebreaker, according to published data, has a total displacement of 4080 tons (against 6000 tons for the project 21180 icebreaker), a length of 82 m (85 m), a width of 19 m (20 m) and a draft of 4.6 m (against 7 m). The speed is 14 knots (15 knots), the range is 7,600 miles (9,000 miles), and the autonomy is halved to 30 days (instead of 60 days). The crew of 28-30 people (32). Ice penetration is maintained and declared at the level of 1 m at a speed of 2 km. On the 21180m project, the power plant has been completely changed, which includes two screw-steering columns and a screw on the Central shaft with its own propeller motor (on the 21180 project, only two more powerful screw-steering columns are used).
At the laying ceremony of the Evpatiya Kolovrat in December 2018, it was reported that two icebreakers of this type are planned to be commissioned into the Navy by 2027.
