TSAMTO, November 20. Three upgraded supersonic high-altitude fighter-interceptor MiG-31BM entered service with the fighter aviation regiment of the Central military district (CVO) in the Krasnoyarsk territory.
During the modernization, which took place at the aircraft factory in Nizhny Novgorod, the MiG-31BM underwent a comprehensive factory repair of technical components and assemblies, avionics, navigation equipment and radio-electronic systems were updated, and the tactical characteristics of the MiG-31BM interceptor fighters were improved, which made it possible to increase their combat capabilities. The flight of the upgraded MiG-31BM completed a flight of about 4,000 km, returned to the home airfield and will soon take up combat duty to protect the airspace.
The aviation unit of the Central military DISTRICT in the Krasnoyarsk territory is armed with supersonic fighter-interceptors MiG-31BM. The crews of the largest aviation unit in Siberia are on combat duty for the air defense of industrial, administrative and military facilities in the region.
Supersonic high-altitude fighter-interceptors MiG-31 are designed to intercept and destroy air targets, including cruise and ballistic missiles, at extremely low, medium and high altitudes in simple and difficult weather conditions, the press service of the Central military district reports.
