TSAMTO, November 12. The Northern fleet's missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov completed a set of combat training tasks in the Barents and Norwegian seas and returned to its permanent base in Severomorsk.

The cruiser was at sea for more than three weeks. During this time, the ship's crew conducted a number of anti-submarine and air defense exercises, worked out interaction with anti-submarine aircraft of the Northern fleet air force and air defense Association, as well as with submarines of several formations.

In addition to performing planned combat training tasks, the cruiser's crew also performed activities to monitor the activities of the USS Ross destroyer IN the Barents and Norwegian seas and escorted a foreign warship to the southern Norwegian sea.

During the stay of the destroyer "Ross" in the Barents sea, nothing special was noted in its actions. The us side previously stated that the ship will be in the Barents sea until November 9, ostensibly demonstrating the US contribution to ensuring "freedom of navigation" around the world.

The Northern fleet command believes that the increase in the presence of the United naval forces (OMVS) NATO in the Barents sea and the Arctic ocean, observed since 2019, has no objective prerequisites. In the Arctic, there are no challenges that need to be solved by military methods.

The destroyer " Ross "was in the waters of the Barents and Norwegian seas in support of the tanker" Laramie " since October 19. The forces of the Northern fleet tracked their actions from the moment they arrived in the North-Eastern Atlantic, where the American destroyer together with other ships of the naval forces of NATO countries (great Britain, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Canada) took part in the joint warrior exercise.

To the direct tracking of ships ovms NATO in the Barents sea at different times were involved in the frigate "Admiral Kasatonov", the missile cruiser "Marshal Ustinov", the anti-submarine aircraft Association air force and air defense. This is a common practice of actions of the fleet forces when foreign ships are located in the immediate vicinity of the sea borders of the Russian Federation, the press service of the Northern fleet reports.
