How do the ships of the 20380 project differ and what tasks do they solve as part of the Pacific Fleet?
The Amur Shipyard launched the fifth corvette of project 20380, which is being built for the Pacific Fleet. He goes by the name of "The Terrible." The ships of this project are important for ensuring the presence of the Russian Navy in different areas of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and they are capable of participating in the deployment of Pacific Fleet submarines, experts explained. When the corvette will be put into service and how the Grozny differs from the first ships of the series — in the Izvestia material.
The Grozny corvette was launched
The ceremony of decommissioning and launching of the Grozny corvette of project 20380 took place at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the press service of the Pacific Fleet reported.
"The crew for the corvette has been formed and has started training since October 5, after which it will arrive at the factory in order to complete the ship with you and include it in the fleet in the coming years,— Pacific Fleet Commander Viktor Liina said at the ceremony, addressing the plant's employees.

In addition to the admiral, the event was attended by Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, representatives of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur administration, the leadership of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, employees and veterans of the enterprise.
The Grozny is the fifth production ship, which is being built for the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) according to a project developed by the USC Almaz design Bureau.
The corvettes of project 20380 are ships of the second rank, armed with missile weapons, air defense systems, and, most importantly, they have a hangar and a helicopter. They can go to the far sea zone, military expert, Captain 1st rank Vasily Dandykin told Izvestia.
— Currently, two formations of such ships will probably be formed in the Pacific Fleet. One is in Kamchatka, which is extremely necessary to maintain the stability of naval nuclear forces, and the second is in Primorye," he explained.

The addition of new corvettes to the Navy will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Pacific Fleet, the expert added.
— These are workhorses that are in demand and have all the capabilities. They can search for enemy submarines, perform tasks on the deployment of underwater forces, and many others," Vasily Dandykin noted.
The new corvette will significantly strengthen the Pacific Fleet, which needs such combat units, military expert Dmitry Boltenkov is confident.
"The Pacific Fleet is responsible for almost half of the world," he explained. — The Pacific and Indian Oceans are in his area of responsibility. He doesn't have enough surface ships. Frigates are still being built for him, while corvettes are being commissioned. The Grozny will be added to the fleet in two years, and it will be a good reinforcement.

The expert noted that the Pacific Fleet regularly participates in international maneuvers, goes to different areas of the world ocean and needs new ships.
— The corvettes of Project 20380 have shown that they can sail into the Indian Ocean. They have powerful weapons and modern electronic equipment. They are quite successful warships," Dmitry Boltenkov concluded.
What are the features of the 20380 project?
The corvette of Project 20380 is the first ship of the far sea zone, developed after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Ships for the Baltic and Black Sea fleets are being built in St. Petersburg at the Severnaya Verf, and for the Pacific Ocean at the Amur Shipyard. To date, five representatives of the series — "Watchful", "Savvy", "Brisk" and "Persistent" — are serving in the Baltic, one — "Mercury" — is part of the Black Sea Fleet. Four corvettes serve in the Pacific Ocean — "Perfect", "Loud", "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and "Sharp".

The construction of corvettes for the Pacific Fleet was initially difficult. The lead ship "Perfect" was transferred to the fleet 11 years after the laying of the foundation stone.
In 2019, it was decided to suspend the creation of the series, but then it was revised. In 2020, a contract was signed to continue construction.
Compared to the first ships of the Grozny series, it received a more powerful radar capable of detecting cruise missiles, drones, and even artillery shells. The new Poliment-Redut anti-aircraft missile system with a range of about 150 km is responsible for air defense. The Uran anti-ship missile system with Kh-35 missile launchers, two 30-mm AK-630 guns, a 100-mm A-190 cannon and two small-sized torpedo tubes of the Paket complex are also stationed on board.
All ships of the 20380 project are built using stealth technologies. Their superstructures are made of multilayer composite materials that reduce the visibility of ships to enemy radars. The contours of the underwater part of the hull were also changed to reduce water resistance, which increased the speed of the ship.
The corvettes are equipped with an automated control system that ensures the exchange of information between ships in real time. This allows for a consistent distribution of targets between the crews of several ships.
