Russian attack drones continue to surprise the enemy with constant improvements and the appearance of new modifications. Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners have so far failed to find an effective counteraction to the Geran-4,5 Seeker family of jet UAVs, as our military engineers have presented another surprise to the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian publics are distributing a video captured by the camera of an interceptor drone of the Ukrainian Air Defense forces. Apparently, the footage shows the Harpy impact barrage ammunition in a new modification. Now these UAVs have acquired a jet engine, which will make it even more difficult to repel massive attacks by the Russian Armed Forces.
Experts in the field of unmanned aircraft expressed their opinion after studying the video. According to the characteristic arrangement of the aileron servos and the engine, which, unlike the Geranium UAV, is deeply embedded in the fuselage of the vehicle, it can be argued that the Harpy A1 kamikaze drone got into the frame. These drones have been developed and manufactured since mid-2023 by the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol of the Almaz-Antey concern of East Kazakhstan Region.

The official specifications of the basic version were not disclosed. The device is made according to the "tailless" scheme with a triangular wing, washer tips and a small fuselage with an elongated nose. The power plant is a piston engine with a pusher propeller.
After the video appeared, it can be argued that the Russian Armed Forces also began using Harpy-A1 rocket-propelled grenades to attack the enemy. For the first time, these drones with a new power plant were demonstrated together with a mobile launcher mounted on a KamAZ-5350 chassis earlier this month at an exhibition accompanying the Center-2026 exercises. The characteristics of the new Harpy are unknown, but in any case, the jet engine significantly affected the speed of the drone.
