MOSCOW, 13 Sep - RIA Novosti. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated military personnel and designers on the Day of the tanker, the military department reported.
Tanker's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of September. The professional holiday of military personnel, specialists and designers of tank forces was established in 1946 to commemorate the merits of armored and mechanized troops in defeating the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War, as well as the merits of tank builders in equipping the Armed Forces of the country with armored vehicles.
"On the eve of this significant day, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation congratulated tank servicemen and employees of enterprises of the military-industrial complex on their professional holiday. Andrey Removich Belousov noted the great contribution of tank troops to strengthening the defense capability of the Fatherland and expressed confidence that tank soldiers will continue to follow the glorious traditions of their predecessors, improve their skills, and contribute to strengthening the defense capability of the state," the message says.
The head of the Ministry also wished all the personnel of the tank forces good health and fortitude.
The history of tank troops
The history of the troops began at the beginning of the last century: then, by order of the Main Armored Directorate of the Red Army, the first domestic tank was created at the Sormovo Plant and launched sea trials in August 1920. Since then, the Defense Ministry noted, tank units and formations have remained the most important component of the Ground Forces.
"Today they are armed with upgraded T-72, T-80, T-90. The improvement of armored vehicles does not stop for a minute. The training system for Russian tankers is also being developed. The enormous combat experience gained during the special military operation is being actively implemented in the training of tank crews, units and units," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Defense added that the constant practical training of tankers based on new methodological approaches and principles based on the experience of using tanks in modern combat conditions increases the field experience of military personnel, instills in the commanders of crews, platoons and companies high professional knowledge, skills and abilities in maneuver and fire control of their subordinates, interaction with infantry, artillery, unmanned aviation and other divisions.
The revival of the Chelyabinsk Tank School
The military department recalled that in May, by a decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin and an order of the government of the Russian Federation, the Chelyabinsk Higher Tank Command School was recreated.
"The newly revived Chelyabinsk Tank School has become the legal successor to the best traditions and all the valuable things that were laid down in the school before its disbandment," the Defense Ministry noted.
The ministry stressed that professional experience and knowledge are passed on to future tank commanders by some of the best representatives of the teaching staff of the Russian Armed Forces. And the educational and material base and living conditions of the cadets meet the most modern requirements for the educational process in the country's military universities.
