TSAMTO, September 11th. On September 11, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko got acquainted with the development and practical use of communication systems in the military at the Obuz-Lesnovsky combined arms range.
The Head of State was informed about the appointment, composition, combat capabilities, prospects and directions of development of the Belarusian signal forces, taking into account the experience of modern armed conflicts, as well as the state of the Armed Forces' control system and the progress of the special operations exercises of the signal forces.
Alexander Lukashenko got acquainted with modern communications equipment and complexes in service with the troops of the Republic of Belarus, as well as promising communications equipment manufactured by enterprises of the State Military Industry.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that "today, the rapid exchange of data, the security of channels and the speed of decision-making directly determine the strategic advantage on the battlefield, guarantee the accuracy of combat missions and the safety of all personnel. At a time when the whole world is rapidly developing information technology, intelligence, electronic warfare and suppression, lagging behind in this matter is like death. That is why we pay and will continue to pay great attention to the modernization of the communications system in the development of our Armed Forces and the military organization of the state as a whole."
Prior to the meeting on the arrival of the head of state at the training ground, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin reported to the president that the command and control system had been completely changed recently. Moreover, it is not just about the management of the army, but also the entire military organization of the state, law enforcement agencies. Reliable communications will also cover the civilian sector.
The Head of State was informed that the Armed Forces have a set of necessary means of communication that allow them to control troops in modern conditions. These include various satellite and tropospheric communication stations, radio relay stations, mobile telecommunication complexes, and command and staff vehicles. They discussed further plans to equip troops with communications equipment, taking into account the experience of modern conflicts, both through the supply of new models and the modernization of existing ones.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, as for the communications troops, it is precisely necessary to be able to fight not with numbers, but with skill. "The means of communication that we have today allow us to have fewer people, if we talk about numbers. But it's not even about numbers. It's about the skills and means of communication. What we have seen today is the most advanced, what is needed," the president said.
The Head of State recalled that several years ago he had set the task for Belarus to have everything of its own in this area, including space communications. "Today we have it. But still in insufficient quantity. We need more. And based on the results of our conversation and practical exercises, we will decide how soon we will equip all our Armed Forces with modern means of communication. We know how to do this," the Belarusian leader said.
As part of the event, Goskomvoyenprom presented a wide range of communications equipment that has already proven itself in the military, as well as its new high-tech developments. The following samples of communication technology were presented in the demonstration line.
