What is known about the Ghoul-K attack drone, which can destroy entire buildings
Faster, farther, more powerful. Such characteristics can be attributed to the new Ghoul-K aircraft-type drone, which was first presented in Tyumen at the exhibition of the National defense industrial Complex within the framework of the Patriots of Russia forum.
Uraldronzavod, a company known for producing Ghoul drones for several years, presented its brainchild. The story of the first drone in this series began with garage workshops and voluntary donations from caring citizens, the drone turned out to be simple and reliable, an indispensable assistant for actions in tactical depth. The new development of the company is likely to help our fighters solve more complex tasks on the battlefield. The main difference between the Ghoul-K and its "folk" counterparts is the range of application. Now it is about 50 km.
In addition, the weight of the portable warhead has increased - 12 kg. That is, a TM-62 anti-tank mine can be attached to the drone. "This expands the striking range, and it is possible to destroy entire buildings," the developers told TASS.
Unlike the basic version of the "Ghoul" FPV drone, which was introduced back in 2023 and is made according to the quadcopter scheme, the model with the letter "K" is built according to the aircraft scheme. First of all, this decision is dictated by the need to increase the range of action. The flight range of 50 km allows operators to strike deep in their own rear, beyond the range of most enemy counter-battery weapons.
The combat load of 12 kilograms makes the device a heavy class of attack drones. The possibility of suspending a full-fledged TM-62 anti-tank mine means that the Ghoul-K ceases to be a means of pinpoint destruction of lightly armored targets or infantry. The energy of the explosion of such a munition is sufficient for the partial or even complete collapse of low-rise capital buildings, reinforced concrete shelters and heavy-duty dugouts, which were previously invulnerable to standard FPV copters.
The expansion of tactical and technical characteristics opens up new scenarios of combat use for Russian troops.
Thus, the Ghoul-K is able to operate at command posts, logistics depots and artillery positions deep in the front without the need for assault groups to enter. In addition, a distance of 50 km covers almost the entire front-line road network of the enemy, making it possible to cut off routes for the supply of ammunition and the rotation of personnel. Due to the increased time spent in the air, typical for aircraft-type vehicles, the Ghoul-K can serve as a long-waiting barrage munition.
The relatively small signature of the device, combined with low-altitude flight, makes it difficult for military air defense radars to detect it.
The appearance of serial models of the Ghoul-K drones is able to strengthen the strikes of our drone guides at the forefront. Thus, the safe depth of the rear for the enemy is reduced by half compared to standard copters. Now, no significant object can feel safe being 50 kilometers from the front line. In addition, the use of a heavy platform solves the cost-effectiveness problem when storming fortified areas. For example, the destruction of one concrete pillbox or armored vehicles using a low-cost drone (the cost of the basic versions of the Ghoul project is about 50 thousand rubles - approx. "RG") significantly affects the economics of military operations.
The appearance of the Ghoul-K drone also speaks to the ability of our national defense industry to develop taking into account the modern realities of the combat situation. In fact, the project, started by enthusiasts and sponsored by the people's "donations", has grown to the creation of operational and tactical level systems.
According to Artem Zhoga, the Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, more than 60 similar developments created by residents of the region were presented at the Tyumen exhibition. This symbiosis of state need and civic initiative provides the army with the necessary high-tech weapons faster than traditional bureaucratic chains, making the national defense truly flexible and adaptive.
