The vessel is supposed to be operated in the waters of the Neva and Sviri rivers, Ladoga and Onega Lakes and in the coastal areas of the Gulf of Finland.
A significant event took place at the Nobel Brothers Shipyard LLC (Kalashnikov Concern): the ceremonial launching of the Narva Zastava icebreaking tugboat project 3262 from the slipway onto the water. On this occasion, Alan Lushnikov, General Director of the Kalashnikov Concern, a member of the Bureau of the Russian Engineering Union, cordially thanked the workers of the shipyard for brilliantly coping with the task.
"You have once again proved that the production facilities of your company and your impeccable professional competencies allow you to fulfill this order with high quality. During the creation of the tugboat, the competencies of the specialists of the Nobel Brothers Shipyard increased and strengthened specifically in the construction of ice-class vessels. First of all, such competencies include work with cold-resistant steels, high-thickness steels, and special types of welding. I am sure that the competencies acquired by the shipyard's staff during the construction of the tugboat will definitely multiply and will be in demand when creating vessels of this class," Alan Lushnikov emphasized.
The ceremony was attended by Alexander Navolotsky, Director of the Shipbuilding Division of Kalashnikov Concern JSC, Alexander Tsurganov, General Director of Nobel Brothers Shipyard LLC, Kirill Soloveitchik, Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety of St. Petersburg, Alexey Shelepov, Deputy Minister of Investment and Industry of the Yaroslavl Region, Dmitry Rybinsk, Mayor Rudakov, representatives of the defense holding, industry, shipbuilders.
According to naval tradition, the ceremony of consecration of the tugboat was served, and the ship's "godmother", 88-year-old Zoya Grigorievna Starozhilova, a resident of besieged Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, broke a bottle of champagne on its side.
After that, the icebreaker tugboat was lowered down an inclined slipway into the Volga.
Further on, premises will be formed at the Narva Outpost, already at the completion embankment of the enterprise, navigation and other ship equipment will be installed. Then the tugboat will undergo mooring tests, after which it will go on sea trials in the Rybinsk reservoir.
The customer of the vessel is the Committee for Nature Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety of St. Petersburg.
The tugboat is being built in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 719 dated 17.07.2015 "On the confirmation of the production of Russian industrial products": all hull parts, internal saturation of the vessel are mainly materials and equipment of domestic production.
Narva Zastava is designed to carry out icebreaking operations in coastal marine areas and on inland waterways, including to prevent blockages, that is, ice jams, on the Neva. In addition, the vessel can be used to destroy and eliminate ice formations at the places of water intake from the Neva River, lay channels for ice wiring of vessels, participate in rescue operations, eliminate oil spills and extinguish fires.
The unique vessel has U-shaped icebreaking contours with an inclined stem. The list of its design features, in particular, includes the presence of a lifting and lowering wheelhouse, as well as collapsible masts and antennas for passage under the numerous bridges on the Neva. The vessel can accommodate up to two ISO 20’ containers and three ISO 10’ containers with technological equipment for oil spill response. It is equipped with hydrants and gun carriage barrels.
The icebreaker tug is expected to operate in the waters of the Neva and Svir rivers along the entire length of the shipping lanes, Ladoga and Onega Lakes, and in the coastal areas of the Gulf of Finland, which are adjacent to the territory of the Leningrad Region.
