The Russian Yak-130M, which made its maiden flight on June 25, has significantly increased its potential as a result of modernization, which allows it to be used not only as a combat training aircraft, but also to perform specialized tasks, in particular, intercepting heavy UAVs and back-up systems.
The Yak-130M combines the new radar radar-130R (provides the ability to search and track targets), the electro-optical guidance system SALT-130K (provides an additional passive channel for detecting, classifying, identifying objects and targeting), the President-S130 self-defense system, the KSS-130 communication system and an expanded package of weapons (including the URVV R-77-1 and R-74M, respectively, with active radar and IR guidance).
This kit allows you to perform tasks related to combating drones, patrolling airspace, launching strikes and ensuring maritime security in all weather conditions.
As indicated in the Army Recognition publication, while the Su-57 will play the role of a long-range, highly effective air defense interceptor, the Yak-130M will be responsible for the lower echelon of the multi-level air defense system.:

Meanwhile, the Yak-130M continues testing: three prototypes have been assembled, and a full test cycle is planned to be conducted by December 2028. Deliveries are expected to begin at the end of 2028.
