A new UAV specialist training center has been opened in the rear area of the SVO
MOSCOW, July 26 - RIA Novosti. A new training center for unmanned systems specialists was opened by engineers of the Center group of forces in the rear area of the special operation, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Military personnel of the separate engineer and sapper battalion of the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Center group of forces have equipped a new training center for unmanned systems specialists in the rear area of the special military operation," the report says.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, training classes are equipped at this center to train operators.
"In theoretical classes, military personnel study the tactical and technical characteristics and design of unmanned systems, the principles of operation and the procedure for deploying ground control stations. The flights are tested on specialized simulators," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The military department noted that the key element of the center is the technical and operational part. "It is there that military personnel prepare equipment for combat use: they perform firmware, calibration and final configuration of unmanned systems before they are sent to the front lines," the message says.
According to Egor Trofimov, a senior mechanic at the department for the preparation of unmanned systems for use, the center presents a wide range of samples of unmanned vehicles and ammunition.
"Among the most sought-after devices is the VT‑40 UAV, capable of carrying up to 3 kilograms of ammunition and has long proven itself at the front," he said.
Separately, Trofimov singled out the Gamayun spacecraft, which is well suited for engineering tasks due to its standard set of equipment, reliable configuration and significant flight range.
"In addition to it, the center's arsenal includes various engineering ammunition, including PTMK‑2H, the POM‑2 antipersonnel mine, which, when triggered, uses nylon thread sensors for the target, as well as PTM‑3 on a magnetic target sensor," he said.
The senior mechanic also added that the Kirm‑10 UAV, designed for a payload of up to 5 kilograms, with a well-thought-out drop system and stable communication, is used to perform more difficult tasks. "However, our novelty is the VT‑40 UAV, which is capable of carrying up to 10 kilograms of cargo and delivering even an entire TM‑62 mine to destroy strongholds, UAV control points and command centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The flight range of this device reaches 25 kilometers, which significantly expands the range of application," concluded Trofimov.
The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that in this new center, military personnel of the engineering units of the Center group of forces are constantly improving their professional knowledge and skills using modern equipment, which makes it possible to successfully carry out combat missions, ensuring the advancement of assault units in the group's area of responsibility.
"Progress does not stand still, and fighting requires constant improvement of tactics. Therefore, we are also preparing for remote mining," said Dmitry Nechaev, deputy commander of the engineering and sapper company for military and political work.
