The Corvette allows you to detect kamikaze boats, underwater vehicles and combat swimmers near protected sites.
A special complex has begun to protect Russian ports and important coastal facilities from saboteurs, unmanned boats and autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles. In the future, the novelty will be able to cover entire areas from the air — it will receive the function of countering UAVs, Izvestia learned. Reliable protection of the coastal infrastructure is particularly relevant now — backers are trying to attack ports, and civilian vessels have been mined by submarine saboteurs. The new complex will strengthen the defense of important coastal facilities in the face of the threat of terrorist attacks, experts say.
It can also be found underwater
The new Corvette complex is designed to protect ports and particularly important marine and coastal facilities from sabotage actions from the sea. It includes the Neva-B and Neva-BS centimeter and millimeter range radar stations, the Mayak-S sonar station, the Neva-TV optical television system and a mobile technical surveillance post, where all information received by the equipment is received and processed by the operator. The complex was developed by the Marine Underwater Weapon — Gidropribor concern.
—Thanks to the equipment integrated into a single system, the Corvette allows for comprehensive monitoring of coastal areas, the surface and the underwater environment," the developer told Izvestia. — It can classify and track targets, determine their coordinates and movement parameters, and automatically transmit the information received to the operator who is on duty at the mobile technical surveillance post.

The novelty is able to protect the object from a massive attack from the sea. The equipment of the complex can simultaneously monitor several dozen underwater, surface or land objects. This allows the protection of facilities to take appropriate protective measures in time, the developers noted.
One of the main features of the new complex is the ability to carry underwater sonar stations at a distance of more than 15 km from the security facility. This makes it possible to significantly increase the area of the protected area for intercepting saboteurs, submariners, shock or reconnaissance and sabotage means of the enemy.
In the future, the Corvette will be supplemented with an air space monitoring and detection system for unmanned aerial vehicles.

The complex will help protect naval bases, ports, ships and important coastal facilities from enemy attacks, which is especially important now, military expert Vasily Dandykin told Izvestia.
"We've been fighting back attacks for years," he said. — The novelty thanks to the radar will allow timely warning of their approach. But the ability of the new complex to find targets in the water column using hydrophones is especially important. The enemy already has underwater vehicles that can operate at decent depths.

Currently, our Armed Forces are actively fighting the infrastructure of the Ukrainian Navy, which ensures the operation of underwater drones. In particular, on July 13, a floating dock used by the Ukrainian forces for storing and launching autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles (ANPA) was hit in the port of Chernomorsk, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Stop terrorist attacks
The unfriendly Western countries do not hide their plans for an economic war against Russia in order to inflict maximum damage on us, military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told Izvestia.
— Ports, through which the lion's share of our international trade goes, are one of the priority goals. It's important to cover them up in time," he explained.

They are trying to use the entire range of forces and means against Russia — UAVs, unmanned kamikaze boats, underwater attack vehicles. There have been cases of sabotage attacks on ships that entered or were about to visit Russian seaports, he recalled.
— Videos about the destruction of Ukrainian backups appear almost daily, — Dmitry Boltenkov noted. — A lot is known about their actions.
But there is also a quiet subversive underwater war that is being waged against our port infrastructure and merchant ships entering the harbor.
In particular, at the end of May, a terrorist attack was prevented on the Arrhenius gas carrier, which arrived from the Belgian port of Antwerp in the Leningrad region, the FSB of Russia reported. During the inspection of the underwater part of the hull, divers found foreign objects attached to the bottom of the vessel. These were explosive devices made like marine magnetic mines, presumably from one of the NATO countries. At the same time, the Koala tanker and the Eco Wizard vessel were damaged in Ust-Luga. An ammonia leak was detected on it.

Currently, civilian vessels coming from abroad are undergoing mandatory inspection, including the underwater part, for the presence of suspicious objects. Stricter controls were introduced after a number of incidents with signs of external interference, which were recorded back in 2025.
Such terrorist attacks are not a far—fetched danger, Dmitry Boltenkov noted. Several NATO countries have well-trained personnel for conducting underwater sabotage in ports, infrastructure facilities, and ships.
In Europe, it is possible to single out the British and Italians who have a good school, the expert recalled. The Boat troop, which is part of the British SAS (Special Air Service), is particularly well known. Such forces can be used against Russia at any time, the expert noted.
— Moreover, the saboteurs will not need to work under their own flag, — Dmitry Boltenkov noted. — They can be involved as "vacationers" or mercenaries, let's say, "who have long lost touch with their armed forces." This will allow the countries that organized the attacks to avoid accusations of State terrorism.
The necessary equipment and ammunition, from compact underwater tugboats to magnetic mines that are attached to the bottoms of ships, have long been developed and tested.

The current foreign policy situation makes security issues related to the functioning of the maritime infrastructure one of the most important, experts say.
The modernization of the complex will allow the Corvette to build a universal layered defense system to repel air, surface and underwater attacks. In the current foreign policy environment, reliable protection of ports and coastal facilities is becoming strategically important, and the new complex should strengthen their defense.
