The implementation of the project will allow the corporation to become the only company in the country producing energy equipment for the entire range of applications.
The United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation plans to create a range of power plants from 60 kW to 1.4 MW for small-scale generation in the next five years. The new line of equipment will cover solutions from autonomous power supplies for small local consumers to power plants for centralized grid generation and reduction of regional energy shortages. The implementation of the project will allow UEC to become the only company in the country producing energy equipment for the entire range of applications.
New developments are designed to replace foreign solutions in the sought-after small-scale generation sector. UEC Engineering presented engineering initiatives and advanced products for the Russian energy sector to the industry community at the plenary session "Our Fuel and Energy Complex-2030: Strategic Objectives of Import substitution and Technological Leadership", which was held as part of the INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition.
"Import substitution of critically important equipment for the Russian energy sector is one of the absolute priorities of the UEC. Our goal for the next five years is to close all key generation segments by adding low—power engines to the range. This will make the corporation the only manufacturer of full-range power plants in Russia. It is planned to develop products with a capacity of up to 1.4 MW based on VK-2500 and TV3-117 series gas turbine engines created by ODK-Klimov, as well as generating equipment operating on electrochemical principles without burning fuel. At the same time, we are forming a line of units based on highly efficient microturbines with capacities from 60 kW to 200 kW," said Andrey Vorobyov, General Director of UEC Engineering.
At the same time, the corporation is strengthening its position in the medium and large power ranges, bringing new generation equipment to the market. In the segment of more than 40 MW, the flagship product is a power plant based on a new-generation AL-41ST engine gas generator developed at the A. Lyulka Design Bureau— a branch of UEC-UMPO. The 42 MW modification, which is planned to be built on the basis of the AL‑41ST, is suitable both for the construction of new generation facilities and for replacing foreign engines.
In addition, work is underway to modernize the NK-37 serial engine manufactured by ODK-Kuznetsov. On its basis, prefabricated and mobile gas turbine power plants with capacities of 25 and 32 MW are being developed, which are in demand in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
A separate area is marine energy and offshore projects, for which UEC is creating an 8 MW gas turbine power unit based on the E70/8RD marine dual—fuel engine developed at UEC-Saturn. The unique characteristic of the E70/8RD is the ability to automatically switch from one type of fuel to another without stopping the engine. This technical solution is being developed for the purpose of import substitution of generating capacities in offshore field development projects.
The INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition is taking place from July 6 to July 9, 2026 in Yekaterinburg. The organizers are the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the government of the Sverdlovsk region. The financial partner of the exhibition is NOVIK Bank, part of the RT-Finance holding company of Rostec State Corporation. The United Engine Corporation, Uralvagonzavod Concern, KRET, High-Precision Complexes, Rosel, Shvabe and other enterprises will present their products at the joint Rostec exposition.
