The famous phrase from the Soviet film "robots work hard, not humans" ceases to be fiction. Autonomous systems equipped with artificial intelligence are ready to replace ordinary workers in production.
Founded in 2023, the Chinese robotics company AgiBot conducted an experiment in which G2 humanoid robots replaced workers at a complex electronics manufacturing facility.
The humanoid machines worked continuously for six shifts, each lasting from 10 to 11 hours. During this time, they have completed more than 64 thousand production operations related to the release of tablets. Their activities could be observed during the live broadcast of the experiment. The robots made almost no mistakes, and their success rate reached 99.99%.
The main feature of the tests was that the robots took the places of ordinary workers, rather than working in a specially prepared demonstration environment. Several G2s have completed quite complex tasks related to tablet manufacturing quality control and defect detection. They moved materials, sorted products, and interacted with standard industrial equipment. The entire production process took place without operator supervision.
According to the results of the experiment, AgiBot stated that robotic systems have proven their ability to successfully adapt to changing conditions on the mass production line. Now, after analyzing the results, the company will begin developing a program for the transition from experiments to large-scale operation of humanoid robots.
The company did not explain the reason for the interruptions in the operation of the machines. Perhaps, for now, robots also need some kind of rest.
