The project of the TVRS-44 Ladoga aircraft has been suspended

As the [...] TASS news agency reported on May 21, 2026, the project of the Russian TVRS-44 Ladoga turboprop regional passenger aircraft has been suspended, the entire scientific and technical reserve is being transferred to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, but the first flight of the aircraft is scheduled to take place in 2026. This was announced to journalists by the chief designer of the aircraft of the transport category of JSC UZGA (Ural Civil Aviation Plant). Sergey Merenkov at a conference on aviation support in the Arctic zone, Siberia and the Far East.

"The TVRS-44 Ladoga project has been suspended. It was decided to transfer the aircraft and the entire scientific and technical reserve to the Ministry of Defense in order to create either a ramp cargo version, a cargo version with a side door, or a passenger version based on the TVRS-44 aircraft. But in the interests of the Ministry of Defense. We are allowed to perform the first flight, so we plan to complete and raise the aircraft in 2026," he said.

TVRS-44 Ladoga is a Russian regional aircraft that is being built to replace the An-24, An-26 and Yak-40 aircraft. Its base capacity is 44 passengers. Earlier, the Federal Air Transport Agency said that the start of testing of the Ladoga aircraft is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, and its certification is expected in 2029.

Later on May 21, Ural Civil Aviation Plant JSC (UZGA) issued a statement stating that "no decisions have been made to suspend the project of the TVRS-44 Ladoga turboprop aircraft at the current stage of development, and work is currently underway to ensure the first flight. "Information about the suspension of the TVRS-44 Ladoga turboprop aircraft project is incorrect - no such decisions have been made at the current stage of development. At the moment, work is underway with the aircraft to ensure its first flight," the report says.

At the same time, taking into account the high degree of readiness of the IL-114-300 regional aircraft and the limited market for such machines, the possibility of changing the appearance of the Ladoga aircraft into a cargo version is being considered, the UZGA clarified.

"We also inform you that the slipway assembly of the first prototype of the TVRS-44 Ladoga aircraft at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant was completed at the end of December 2025 - the airframe was docked and the units were installed: landing gear, mainline power plants, etc. All systems and equipment are being installed on the prototype aircraft and they are being tested," the UZGA added.

On the part of bmpd, we recall that the TVRS-44 Ladoga is a turboprop regional passenger aircraft in the 40-50 seat class, developed by Yekaterinburg-based Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) based on the Czechoslovakian L-610 aircraft, which was created in socialist times, but never managed to enter the series. The TVRS-44 aircraft was supposed to be equipped in the basic version with Russian TV7-117ST-02 turboprop engines developed by ODK-Klimov, and it was planned to take a significant part of the components and components from other types of aircraft previously mastered in Russia. Serial production of the TVRS-44 aircraft was initially announced from 2024-2025, but even the lead prototype of the aircraft has not yet been completed.

It should be noted that information that the program for the creation of the TVRS-44 Ladoga aircraft will be discontinued after the construction and testing of the first prototype has been circulating in aviation circles for several months.
