Russian air defense system Tunguska with a thermal imager can shoot down UAVs at night

The list of tasks that can be performed by the Russian Tunguska-M1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems also mentions the air defense of various stationary facilities. At least, slow-moving, low-maneuverable enemy drones, which are quite large, are not difficult targets for anti-aircraft missiles.

Moreover, it was reported that such combat vehicles received the latest sights with thermal imaging channels and the ability to automatically track targets. This makes it possible to better detect the enemy at night and in bad weather conditions.

In addition, according to open data, the 2S6M1 locator detects air objects at a range of eighteen kilometers and takes escorts at a distance of sixteen kilometers.

The available eight missiles hit targets at ranges from 200 to 10,000 meters and at altitudes from 15 to 3,500 meters.

A pair of double-barreled 30 mm guns have 1,904 rounds of ammunition. They can strike at ranges from 200 to 4,000 meters and at altitudes from 0 to 3,000 meters.

Tunguska has good mobility, for example, it accelerates up to 40 km/h on a dirt road and up to 70 km/h on a highway. The mass of the combat vehicle is 34 tons. The crew consists of four people.
