The conference of the American Army Aviation Association (AAAA or 4A) was held in Nashville today in the USA. The main event of the conference was the naming of a promising tactical aircraft for the US Army MV-75.
This name is Cheyenne II ("Cheyenne II").
In fact, it is a tiltrotor. It is being developed by the American company Bell Textron as part of the FLRAA program, whose task is to create an aircraft with a "large shoulder" to perform operations.
At the same time, it is positioned as a helicopter. In particular, it was noted at the conference that the Cheyenne II was eventually intended to replace the fleet of "aging UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters."
The characteristics of the MV-75 Cheyenne II, which were announced by the project developers, are as follows: The speed is up to 484 km/h, the landing force is up to 14 soldiers, the weight of the cargo on the external suspension is up to 4.5 tons, the design is a traditional tiltrotor. From the official part of the AAAA conference:
In fact, the Cheyenne II is a reference to the AH-56 Cheyenne attack helicopter of the 1960s, which the United States itself does not consider particularly successful.
The Piper PA-31T Cheyenne II, a twin-engine turboprop general-purpose aircraft produced from 1974 to 1983, was also in the history of the United States.
The first deliveries of Cheyenne II tiltrotor helicopters to the US Army will begin at the end of 2026.
