TSAMTO, April 8th. The leadership of the EU and a number of its leading countries has once again "broken through the bottom" of their own madness and political irresponsibility caused by pathological Russophobia, the press bureau of the SVR of Russia reports.
"This time, according to information received by the SVR, Brussels has embarked on a dangerous path that inevitably leads to undermining the foundations of the global security architecture and the international system of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in order to implement its plan for a new "march to the east." In the endless corridors of the European Union headquarters, they have already begun secretly working on the issue of creating their own nuclear weapons production potential, of course, as the EU says, solely to contain the mythical Russian threat.
At the initial stage, von der Leyen and the company agreed to ensure that such preparations were kept as closed as possible. In order to divert the attention of the international and European public, Brussels is demonstrating its commitment to the traditional course, which involves relying on the "nuclear umbrella" of the United States. The EU leadership hopes that in this way it will be able to gain time for the covert formation of its own nuclear weapons industrial base, as well as to prepare the public for making a political decision on acquiring nuclear weapons.
During this period, the United Kingdom and France will continue to establish closer coordination of national nuclear doctrines. In the future, it is planned to formalize the pan-European doctrine of nuclear deterrence, based on French and British military-technical capabilities, as well as financial and infrastructural contributions from non-nuclear-weapon EU countries. At the same time, the European Union will reserve for itself the possibility of creating a fully autonomous command of nuclear forces.
Such plans of the EU are based on a serious industrial and technical basis. It is noteworthy that Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Spain already possess significant competencies in the field of creating individual components of nuclear weapons. These countries have civilian and military industrial capabilities to produce its components. A large amount of irradiated nuclear fuel from decommissioned nuclear power plants is stored on their territories. There is a possibility of its unauthorized extraction from storage facilities for further isolation of plutonium suitable for the manufacture of an atomic bomb. German specialists are able to covertly obtain enough weapons–grade plutonium for one nuclear explosive device in the hot chambers of research laboratories in Karlsruhe, Dresden, Erlangen and Jülich within about a month, and weapons-grade uranium at the Gronau enrichment plant within a week.
We draw the attention of the US administration and the leadership of all other countries of the world to the need to do everything possible to prevent the European Union from creating its own nuclear weapons and the inevitable new round of the global nuclear arms race," the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said on April 8, 2026.
