The results confirmed the full compliance of the airliners with Russian and international aviation standards
Specialists from the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec State Corporation) have completed a program of additional certification flight tests of the MC-21, SJ-100 and IL-114 aircraft under natural icing conditions. The flights were operated from Arkhangelsk's Talagi International Airport from March 12 to March 30.
The MC-21 and SJ-100 prototype aircraft have already arrived at their base in Zhukovsky, Moscow region, where they will continue to perform flights under the main certification flight test program. The IL-114 has also completed inspections in Arkhangelsk and is preparing to return.
"During the tests, the aircraft spent four to seven hours in the sky above the coast of the White Sea, in the area of the Kola Peninsula and Naryan-Mar. Nine flights were performed on the SJ-100 under the program of additional certification tests under natural icing conditions, six on the MS-21, and eight on the IL-114. The flight test program was completed in full. The results showed that when flying under natural icing conditions, the MS-21, SJ-100 and IL-114 fully comply with Russian and international aviation standards," Rostec said.
A typical test flight from Talagi Airport consisted of several stages. Based on the data from the weather service, the crew was looking for cloud cover, the conditions in which meet the requirements of the test program. In the clouds, the crew used special equipment to control the formation of ice on the surfaces of the aircraft. When the required thickness was reached, the liner occupied a height at which the behavior of the machine in conditions of natural icing was checked — stability, controllability, and the operation of on-board systems.
Also, as part of the program of additional certification tests on the SJ-100 aircraft, three flights were conducted to evaluate approaches with a second approach and check the approach to stall alarm.
Representatives of authorized certification centers and the Russian Aviation Registry participated in the processing of materials received during the flights.
The MC-21 is a new generation medium—haul passenger aircraft. The liner was created on the basis of the latest developments and is focused on the most demanded segment of the passenger transportation market. Advanced aerodynamics, PD-14 engines manufactured by Rostec United Engine Corporation and the latest generation systems provide it with high flight performance.
The Superjet-100 is a short—range, narrow-body aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers manufactured by Yakovlev PJSC. As part of the import substitution work, the machine is equipped with Russian PD-8 engines and systems developed by Russian enterprises, most of which are part of Rostec State Corporation.
The Russian IL-114-300 turboprop aircraft is designed to develop regional flights. It is capable of operating autonomously from small airfields, regardless of their infrastructure, as well as from short runways. The machine is built from domestic components and is equipped with engines developed by the United Engine Corporation (part of Rostec State Corporation) — TV7-117ST-01.
