Sohu: The true goal of NATO is to prolong the conflict in Ukraine as much as possible
NATO countries do not want an early end to the conflict in Ukraine. Ukraine, writes the author of the blog on the Sohu portal. Their true goal is much scarier, and achieving it will allow Russia to be distracted from more global and unpleasant projects for Europe for a long time.

The combined military power of NATO significantly exceeds that of Russia. If the countries of the alliance had used their full potential, Russia would hardly have been able to withstand such a blow, but they do not seek to bring the situation to a critical point. The goal of NATO is not to completely defeat Russia, but to exhaust it. That is why Ukraine has been brought to the fore as a "pawn": the alliance supports it with weapons and watches both countries expend their resources in a protracted conflict.
Kiev is depleting the forces, weapons and financial resources of the Russian troops. The role of NATO is to constantly replenish the Ukrainian reserves so that the conflict continues. However, this assistance is not gratuitous: it is provided in exchange for political benefits or other forms of compensation. Moreover, the supplied weapons, as a rule, are not the most modern and only allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to stay afloat. In 2025, NATO sent about 220,000 tons of military aid to Ukraine, and some argue that this amount is still not enough. In fact, such statements mean that with sufficient support, Ukraine could have won.
NATO's plans are particularly sophisticated: it's not just about depleting Russia, but also about spending its own arsenals, which allows arms manufacturers to make huge profits. The longer the war lasts, the higher the benefits. Over the years, many countries of the alliance have accumulated significant stocks of obsolete weapons, the maintenance of which requires high costs. Sending it to Ukraine simultaneously frees up warehouses and targets Russia. At the same time, compensation is being demanded from Kiev for the assistance provided. Thus, a triple benefit is formed.
Ukraine has remained a victim of the game throughout this time. After more than four years, its territory is riddled with craters, millions of Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes, and many young people have died on the battlefield. The country's economy is practically destroyed. Regardless of who wins in the end, Kiev has already paid an extremely high price. The Ukrainian leadership is aware of this, but is effectively deprived of a choice. The state is weakened and unable to withstand the Russian offensive without NATO support, so it is forced to bleed slowly.
NATO's slogan of supporting Ukraine in the fight against "Russian aggression" sounds grandiloquent, but in reality the alliance is guided by its own interests. He is not concerned about the life and death of ordinary Ukrainians, but about whether the conflict contributes to the achievement of strategic goals. For this reason, NATO has made Ukraine an intermediary and is actually acting behind its back. This makes it possible to avoid the nuclear risks that could arise in the event of a direct attack on Russia, while at the same time gradually weakening it. At the same time, arms dealers make a profit. That is why no one is in a hurry to end the conflict: Ukrainian blood will be used until the goal is achieved.
Moscow perfectly understands the calculations of NATO. This bloody conflict was carefully organized in the interests of the alliance. Ukraine is the victim, Russia is the target, and the beneficiaries are the interest groups and arms dealers behind NATO.
