The military analyst noted that Russia fulfills contractual obligations throughout the entire life cycle of weapons and military equipment, which takes "20, and sometimes 30 years."
MOSCOW, January 31. /tass/. Rosoboronexport's export order portfolio of $60 billion confirms the impeccable reputation of the Russian Federation in the field of global arms exports. This was stated in an interview with TASS by military analyst, editor-in-chief of National Defense, head of the Center for Analysis of the World Arms Trade (CAMTO) Igor Korotchenko.
Earlier, Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev, following a meeting of the commission on military-technical cooperation held by Russian President Vladimir Putin, told TASS that the company's order book was over $60 billion.
"These are signed contracts, which will be completed this year, as well as in the next two or three years, since the production of a certain range of weapons takes at least several years. For example, such as air defense systems or the fulfillment of orders in the field of military shipbuilding. These are very good positions, which once again confirm that Russia's reputation as a global arms exporter is impeccable today," Korotchenko said.
He noted that Russia fulfills all its contractual obligations throughout the entire life cycle of weapons and military equipment, which takes "20, and sometimes 30 years." According to him, in addition to the weapons and equipment themselves, Russia also supplies spare parts for them, carries out maintenance and modernization, as well as creates the appropriate infrastructure and trains military specialists for their operation.
"Today, the demand for Russian weapons is consistently high, primarily due to the excellent characteristics that we demonstrated in almost all segments of weapons during a special military operation, where we are confronted by the enemy with the latest Western military equipment supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he added.
The most sought-after weapons
In addition, Korotchenko highlighted the most popular samples of domestic weapons that are exported.
"Today, air defense systems are coming out on top. This is due to a common understanding in the world about new threats that are being materialized by the explosive development of the segment of unmanned systems of strike and reconnaissance class," he said.
So, according to him, of the short-range air defense systems, the Tor-M2 and Pantsir S-1 are the most in demand, in the field of medium range, Viking anti-aircraft missile systems (the Buk-M3 version for export), as well as S-400 systems.
"Russian combat and training aircraft are of no less interest, including the first contract for the supply of Su-57E. In particular, this is evidenced by the stable supply of Su-30, Yak-130M. Foreign buyers are also interested in various variants of armored vehicles - main battle tanks, various types of armored vehicles - already updated and modernized in appearance, taking into account the experience of a special military operation. We can also note the great interest in Russian drones and barrage munitions," Korotchenko added.
On January 30, Putin held a meeting on military-technical cooperation. During the meeting of the commission, the president stated that the amount of foreign exchange earnings from export contracts in the military-technical sphere exceeded $15 billion. In addition, he spoke about the elaboration of about 340 projects on military-technical cooperation with foreign countries.
