On January 20, 2026, the US Department of Defense's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) sent a notification to the US Congress about the possible upcoming sale of four Boeing P-8A Poseidon base patrol aircraft to Singapore through the US Foreign Military Sales Program (FMS). This delivery has been approved by the U.S. Department of State. The total cost of the proposed delivery will be $2.316 billion, including a full set of equipment and training and technical support packages. Radio-hydroacoustic buoys and weapons will not be included in the delivery, with the exception of eight 324-mm Mk 54 Mod 0 anti-submarine torpedoes (apparently for training purposes).

Singapore's Minister of National Defense Chan Chun Sing announced a decision to purchase four American Boeing P-8A Poseidon base patrol aircraft for the Singapore Air Force during a visit to Washington on September 10, 2025. Later, the minister said that the P-8A aircraft should enter service with the Singapore Air Force "in the early 2030s." In the Singapore Armed Forces, the P-8A aircraft are to replace five Fokker 50 MP Enforcer II base patrol aircraft, converted from turboprop regional passenger aircraft, which have been in operation since 1993. In the case of the purchase, Singapore will become the eleventh foreign customer of Poseidon aircraft.
