The devices will allow obtaining data on the air condition in remote and industrial areas, as well as predicting the dynamics of the spread of atmospheric impurities.

The RT-Techpriemka company of the Rostec State Corporation and the A.M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences will create measuring complexes placed on UAVs. The devices will allow obtaining data on the air condition in remote and industrial areas, as well as forming three-dimensional maps of pollution and promptly predicting the dynamics of the spread of atmospheric impurities.

The corresponding agreement was signed by Denis Kononchuk, First Deputy General Director of RT-Techpriemka, and Alexander Chernokulsky, Deputy Director for Science of the A.M. Obukhov Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The joint project will bring together scientists and engineers to develop domestic atmospheric monitoring technologies and digital solutions for analyzing environmental data.

The partnership provides for research and development work on the creation of measuring systems installed on board unmanned aerial vehicles, and the development of measurement and data processing techniques. The created technologies will be tested in real weather conditions.

"Atmospheric pollution causes significant economic and social damage. Even a slight increase in the accuracy of monitoring and forecasting can significantly reduce these losses, which underlines the importance of developing domestic atmospheric analysis technologies. RT-Techpriemka works at the intersection of science and technology, combining engineering solutions and an academic approach. Our joint work with the institute is aimed at creating Russian environmental monitoring systems that will ensure not only the technological independence of the country, but also effective air quality control," said Vladlen Shorin, CEO of RT—Techpriemka.

Within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to create working groups and regularly exchange scientific and technical information. Joint research involves conducting a series of experimental and testing works, scientific conferences and publishing research results.

"Today, our team is actively developing and improving methods for observing atmospheric processes in the boundary layer, including contact, pulsation, and acoustic approaches. We consider acoustic, or, in other words, soda sounding, to be the most promising. It is especially in demand in combination with the analysis of data obtained using UAVs. Soda is based on the phenomenon of sound scattering discovered at our institute based on atmospheric turbulence and inhomogeneities caused by air movement. Cooperation with RT-Techpriemka will allow combining fundamental research and advanced engineering solutions. We are confident that the result of our cooperation will be not only the development of weather and climate forecasting models, but also the creation of a digital ecosystem for predicting the state of the surface atmosphere in an urban environment," said Alexander Chernokulsky, Deputy Director for Science at the Obukhov Institute of Physics and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The results of the current work will make it possible to identify priority areas for further research in the field of monitoring the state of the atmosphere. Joint developments will contribute to the development of the national scientific and technical base in the field of environmental analysis and will help expand the use of Russian technologies in solving environmental protection problems.
