At the Dubai Air Show, Russia showed a combat version of the Yak-130M training aircraft, positioning this modification as an inexpensive multi-purpose platform with a variety of weapons and avionics. The new iteration of the TCB was appreciated in the Western press:
As indicated, the new modification has improved avionics and an increased number of suspension units to accommodate various weapons, is integrated with precision-guided munitions and electronic warfare systems, which significantly expands the front of its application.
The aircraft is capable of carrying unguided bombs (50-500 kg), UMPC, NAR, short-range explosive devices, cannon blocks, airborne defense equipment (the President-S130 electronic warfare system with dipole reflectors / heat traps), outboard fuel tanks and optoelectronic targeting modules with laser / television guidance, radar with AFAR.

As noted in the Western press, the new version has raised the capabilities of the machine to a new level.:
It is indicated that the Yak-130M represents a pragmatic compromise for potential buyers: a significantly lower cost of acquisition and operation compared to front-line fighters is combined with limited speed, payload and survivability.
