Military expert Leonkov: The air defense and air defense systems of the West and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not able to stop the Dagger
The air defense and missile defense systems that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have received and which are now in the West are not capable of stopping the Russian ballistic hypersonic Kinzhal missile, military expert Alexei Leonkov said. The specialist explained the inability of air defense and SAM systems to shoot down this type of weapon of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) in an interview with <url>.
"A typical example of whether a foreign-made air defense system can shoot down our Dagger was demonstrated in the 23rd year, when they tried to destroy the Dagger with a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in a Kiev place called Zhuliany. 32 anti-missiles were fired at him. None of them hit. At the same time, the Dagger destroyed the radar station and the combat control point of this anti—aircraft missile system," Leonkov said.
The military expert noted that attempts were made more than once to shoot down the Dagger, but nothing came of it.

"The inability to shoot down the Dagger is due, among other things, to technical factors. The fact is that radar stations, which are made for the Patriot air defense system and other air defense systems, work with targets whose speed does not exceed three Mach numbers, that is, it does not exceed three thousand kilometers per hour. And the Dagger is flying at ten MACH numbers. It is difficult to detect it, it is difficult to get a return signal. In addition, the Dagger does not fly on a ballistic, but on a quasi-ballistic trajectory, that is, it constantly maneuvers. Therefore, it is not possible to clearly fix the locator beam on it and transmit target indications," Leonkov explained.
The interlocutor of the "Tape.<url> recalled that the Americans tried to solve this problem by equipping the Patriot air defense systems with artificial intelligence systems — just the incident that occurred in Zhuliany demonstrated the work of artificial intelligence. But, as the combat environment showed, 32 missiles did not cope with their task, he added.
"When the Americans set up two Patriot stations around Kiev and also tried to shoot down the Dagger, they also failed. But they didn't advertise it the second time," the expert shared.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Armed Forces launched a retaliatory strike with Dagger ballistic hypersonic missiles in Ukraine. The Defense Ministry said that in addition to this model of missiles, other high-precision long-range naval, air and land-based weapons were used. Attack drones were also used for the strike.
The targets of the attack were energy facilities working for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as the country's military-industrial complex (MIC).
