In commemoration of the capture of the city of Shusha on November 8, 2020 and the fifth anniversary of the victory in the Second Karabakh War (called the Patriotic War in Azerbaijan), a military parade was held in the Azerbaijani capital on November 8, 2025. Various distinguished guests attended the parade along with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the main ones being, of course, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Turkish and Pakistani military personnel were among the parade troops on foot, and F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force and JF-17 fighters of the Pakistani Air Force flew through the air.

Among other things, various types of weapons and military equipment adopted by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were demonstrated at the parade.

Quote from the official message:

A convoy of vehicles and special-purpose weapons systems entered Azadlig Square. The column was led by Major General Eldeniz Yakhyaev, who was awarded the medal "For the Motherland".

After that, flights of combat aircraft and helicopters of the Air Force with the participation of pilots from Azerbaijan and Turkey took place over Azadlig Square. The Akıncı unmanned aerial vehicle, circling in the Baku sky at an altitude of 900-1500 meters above Azadlig Square, was filming.

The three Mi-17 transport and combat helicopters, carrying the national flags of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan, were flown by heroes of the Patriotic War - Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade and Colonel Rashad Nadirov. A portrait of national leader Heydar Aliyev was placed on the Mi-17 helicopter, which was operated by the Knight of the Order of Karabakh, Major General Zaur Rustamov.

The aviation part of the parade continued with demonstration flights. First, a group of five Mi-17 transport and combat helicopters equipped with long-range air-to-ground missiles, led by Lieutenant Colonel Ziya Aliyev, flew in a wedge over Azadlig Square. Five Mi-17 transport and combat helicopters made a wedge flight next, which gave the audience exciting moments. This group was led by Lieutenant Colonel Sabit Huseynov, a knight of the Order "For Service to the Fatherland".

Then, five MFI-17 training aircraft led by Lieutenant Colonel Aslan Ramazanov made a circular flight in the sky. Next, five L-39 training aircraft demonstrated a wedge flight. The head of the group was Colonel Aliyar Asgarov, a knight of the Order for Service to the Fatherland. The three IL-76 military transport aircraft and the recently commissioned C-27J transport aircraft were flown by Lieutenant Colonel Zafar Farhadov, Colonel Ruslan Alekberov, Knight of the Order of Rashadat, and Colonel Vugar Salakhov, Knight of the Order of Karabakh.

It is particularly worth highlighting such previously unknown acquisitions as the HQ-9BE long-range air defense system manufactured by the Chinese state corporation CASIC, which has a target range of up to 260 km. A pair of HQ-9BE self-propelled launchers were shown at the parade.

The upgraded Buk-MB2K medium-range air defense systems from the Belarusian company OKB TSP were also shown for the first time at the parade, although there had long been rumors that Azerbaijan had ordered these air defense systems.

The Russian Tor-M2E short-range air defense systems in service with the Azerbaijani troops of the EMNIP were also shown for the first time.

For the first time in Azerbaijan, the multi-caliber modular PULS missile systems from the Israeli Elbit Systems with different ammunition variants were also shown. Here it is with Skystriker Block 4 Barrage ammunition

with 370mm guided missiles Predator Hawk

with 122 mm ACCULAR guided missiles

Another novelty of the parade was the missile system from the Israeli company Rafael with Ice Breaker cruise missiles capable of hitting sea and land targets at a range of up to 300 km.

In my opinion, the Azerbaijani product "multifunctional mobile combat complex against air targets" with a very Azerbaijani name Viking was shown for the first time. As far as can be judged, it is an anti-aircraft missile and cannon system designed primarily to combat UAVs at short range. I understand that the optoelectronic system is mounted on the turret, and the radar system antennas are mounted directly on the body of the car.

ZSU-23-4 Shilka upgraded in Azerbaijan with new radar and ECO

Hero 120 barrage ammunition from the Israeli company uVision. The supply of these kamikaze drones to Azerbaijan was reported last year, but in my opinion they have not been shown yet.

JF-17 multirole fighters. Despite the fact that it was announced in the Azerbaijani official commentary that they would be put into service, judging by the identification marks, fighter jets of the Pakistani Air Force flew through the parade. Apparently, these are the same Pakistani planes that arrived in October.
