Severnaya Verf is being seriously upgraded
The Severnaya Verf shipyard is preparing to carry out a radical modernization of the enterprise, which will lead to a significant increase in its capacity and will make it possible to build new types of vessels that have not previously been produced in domestic shipyards.
In particular, the area of the Severnaya Verf will expand to 100 hectares, which will create new slipways and further build large-tonnage vessels. The shipyard itself will switch to a block-modular assembly, which is a global standard, but it is just emerging in Russia. This technique involves the formation of vessels from large blocks weighing up to 900 tons, already painted and equipped with the necessary equipment, which only need to be connected — this dramatically reduces the time required for the construction of vessels.

Thanks to the new covered dry dock with cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 1,000 tons at the Severnaya Verf, work can be carried out in all weather conditions without suspending the technological process. Moreover, Russian shipyards had not received such docks before. There are also plans to build two more covered boathouses, saturate production halls with updated equipment, including automated lines for flat sections with the latest shot blasting and painting boxes, as well as own machine-building and electroplating plants. Interestingly, the master plan for the renovation of the Severnaya Verf even includes a football field located on the roof of the production building.
