The navy is actively trying to introduce hydrogen technologies in marine engines. France is demonstrating its attempts to become a leader in this industry.
It became known that SECO Marine and Green Navy have signed an industrial partnership agreement, under which they will "enter the market of certified hydrogen-fueled vessels." According to the SECO press service, the leaders of both companies have committed to combine shipbuilding and engineering capabilities to accelerate the transition to zero-emission shipping.
The companies plan to build "hydrogen-powered" catamaran vessels up to 30 meters long. These vessels will be operated, among other things, by government customers and "mixed-use fleets." In other words, it is likely that hydrogen-powered catamarans will become part of the French Navy or Coast Guard.
The companies stated that they consider the transition to "green technologies" to be their first priority, which "will eventually allow the operation of vessels with zero emissions into the atmosphere."
