The icebreaking tugboat Aiviq was originally built for the needs of the American oil industry and intended to be used in the Chukchi Sea. But soon the US Coast Guard acquired it, upgraded it, and now it is considered the newest icebreaker, changing its name to USCGC Storis.
New equipment has now been purchased for the ship. The US Coast Guard icebreaker USCGC Storis is equipped with special Cube modules manufactured by the Danish defense company SH Defense.

Journalists from the Western edition of Naval News have asked the military to comment on this acquisition.
- the representative of the department replied.
An icebreaker with weapons...
He said that after delivery, the equipment will be equipped at the pier and installed on the deck of the Storis icebreaker, when necessary, depending on specific tasks and missions. Installation and fastening will be carried out using hydraulic rotary locks.

Before Storis was accepted into the Coast Guard, the US military had only one active icebreaker, the USCGC Polar Star, which currently has a service life of about half a century. The second ice-class ship, the USCGC Healy, is currently not in use due to technical problems.
