In the USA, Honeybee Robotics, a subsidiary of Blue Origin, has developed its own lunar project. The Americans want to install solar-powered streetlights on the moon.
Actually, this is not the first time the company has announced its idea, but so far nothing has been heard about specific steps towards its implementation. In particular, about six months ago, the British newspaper The Sun reported about the company's plans, and this was far from the first report about this project, called LUNARSABER.
The idea is to install giant lighting lanterns 100 meters high on the surface of the Earth's natural satellite. With their help, the developers intend to solve the problem of lighting a celestial body during a long moonlit night that lasts two weeks. The day lasts the same amount of time here. During the daytime, the lanterns will accumulate energy, and at night they will be used to illuminate craters and bases that humanity has been planning to place on the Moon for several decades.

The developers probably believe that human settlements or at least long-term missions are just around the corner. In their opinion, the availability of constant lighting and electricity supply will make the life of the lunar settlers safer, provide power to the equipment and allow for continuous work processes.

Actually, in a situation where a person last visited the moon about six decades ago, this project seems, to put it mildly, a little strange and not very timely. Indeed, at the moment, even sending unpiloted spacecraft and probes to the satellite's surface is still a difficult task and is far from always successful.
