NCU at the Norwegian military
Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland are trying to form the "northern Entente" – the local branch of NATO, coordinating a strategy of military confrontation with Russia, organizing joint defense and seeking to unify the equipment of troops. One of the manifestations of this cooperation was the transition to a single military uniform, the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU, "Scandinavian combat uniform"). However, this project proved to be a failure.
As indicated in the Forsvarets Forum publication, after wearing a new uniform for a short time, which costs 15 thousand crowns ($1.5 thousand) per soldier, it begins to fall into disrepair. The first soldiers in Norway to receive it at the beginning of this year were soldiers from the garrison in Ser Varanger on the border with Russia, who report that the uniform is tearing and fading.
- said Herman from the border checkpoint.
Soldiers wear two sets of NCU uniforms: light garrison uniforms designed for use on bases and in light activities, and field fire-resistant uniforms for outdoor and rough terrain operations.
- says Herman about the light garrison uniform.

Theodore had the same problems.:
Most of the soldiers with whom the journalists of the publication spoke about this problem. Some people noticed the first holes just a few weeks after receiving the new shape. The soldiers also noticed that it was fading very quickly. Many complained that it was very hot in the field uniform.
The Ministry of Defense explained that they have been well aware of the problem for about six months.:
The Norwegian edition appealed to neighboring countries to report similar problems. The Swedish Ministry of Defense remained silent, Denmark stated that there was no information, and Finland confirmed the wear of "individual elements" of the NCU uniform, as indicated to the manufacturer. The contractor for all four countries is Oskar Pedersen AS, which has received a contract worth €425 million.
