A key element of the parade in Beijing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance of the Chinese People against Japanese Aggression and the world anti-fascist war was the demonstration of all the capabilities of the PRC's nuclear triad, centered on the headliner of today's news headlines, the Dongfeng-5C intercontinental ballistic missile (DF-5C), which can to call it a marker of radical changes in geopolitics. Alexander Stepanov, a military expert at the RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security, shared this opinion with TASS.
"Dongfeng, which means "East Wind" and is also allegorically interpreted as "Wind of Change," is a really serious marker of global change in terms of China's military-technical potential," he said.
Stepanov explained that he used the word "global" in the literal sense: according to the stated tactical and technical characteristics of the DF-5C, the ground-based part of the PRC nuclear triad is capable of hitting an object located anywhere in the world, including in the Western Hemisphere. Its range is over 20 thousand km, and its speed is tens of Mach numbers. The rocket has the ability to deliver 10 individual guidance heads, separable warheads, each of which can be thermonuclear. In addition, according to the expert, the Western military-industrial complex currently has practically no response to such challenges: they do not yet have systems for intercepting such types of high-precision missile weapons.
Stepanov noted that the naval component of China's nuclear triad, the Julang-3 (JL-3) intercontinental submarine-launched missile, designed to be deployed on promising nuclear submarines, which are already being actively deployed and put into service by the People's Liberation Army of China, was also demonstrated at the parade in Beijing (PLA). This, according to the expert, also suggests that China's naval component is actively saturated with means of potential destruction, capable of guaranteed unacceptable damage to the security of the United States.
According to Stepanov, the military-technical potential of the PRC was demonstrated at the parade in an absolutely timely manner, taking into account the military activity being increased by the Pentagon and its satellites in the border region of China and in the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. "New mechanisms are being formed to ensure a balance of power - and not only regionally, but also in the global aspect of the increasingly unfolding confrontation between the collective West and the global majority, where Russia, China and our BRICS allies undoubtedly occupy the leading positions," the expert concluded.
The People's Liberation Army of China held a large-scale military parade in Tiananmen Square on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance of the Chinese People against Japanese Aggression and the world anti-fascist war. The event was attended by Xi Jinping, Putin, as well as the heads of state and government of 24 other countries.
