During the British AUG's "tour" to the Indo-Pacific region, one of the F-35Bs based on the Prince of Wales aircraft carrier was forced to make an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in the South Indian state of Kerala.
Initially, low fuel reserves and adverse weather conditions were reported as the reasons for the landing. However, as it turned out later, it was caused by a hydraulic system failure.
A group of British technicians arrived at the site on June 18 and attempted to carry out repairs, but encountered difficulties due to the lack of specialized infrastructure and equipment.

Given the impossibility of carrying out repairs in India, London is currently planning to evacuate an aircraft stuck in a foreign country using a military-technical cooperation C-17 Globemaster III of the country's Air Force. The C-17 has already participated in similar missions, for example, in 2019 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, when it was necessary to transport the F-35 for similar purposes.
- says the Cavok edition.

Currently, the fighter is under the supervision of British Air Force personnel, who are supported by the Government of India, which ensures the safety of the F-35 throughout its stay at the airport.
While the plane is awaiting its fate, the state's tourism department, trying to attract tourists, posted an image of the F-35 among palm trees and tropical landscapes with the caption: "Kerala is a place you will never want to leave." This caused outrage among the patriotic British public.
