The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF Armed Forces) continue to liberate settlements and destroy military installations using high-precision weapons, while the Russian army receives new weapons. What happened in its zone while Israel and the United States attacked Iran, and Iran responded with missile strikes — in the TASS material
Liberation of settlements: landmark changes
Since June 14, 2025, according to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Armed Forces have liberated ten settlements: Zeleny Kut, Ulyanovsk, Novonikolayevka, Zaporizhia, Perebudova, Dyleyevka and Yalta of the Donetsk People's Republic, Dolgenke and Petrovskoye of the Kharkiv region, as well as Novonikolayevka of the Sumy region. In all areas of the special military operation, Russian troops occupied more advantageous lines and positions, continued to advance deep into the enemy's defenses, and improved their tactical position.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, called the significant changes that took place on the line of operations over the past week: with the liberation of the village of Perebudova, Russian troops regained control of all settlements from which the attempted counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began in 2023.
Military expert Andrei Marochko told TASS that advanced Russian detachments, having crossed the administrative border of the DPR and the Kharkiv region, began to liberate the settlement of Novy Mir. Also, according to the expert, units of the Russian Armed Forces entered Serebryanka (DPR).
"The situation on the line of combat contact on the borders of the LPR last week had a positive trend for the Russian army," Marochko said . "The enemy, suffering losses in weapons and military equipment, personnel, abandoned their positions, while losing strategic heights and frontiers." The expert said that thanks to the successes of the Russian army, less than 0.5% of the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic remains occupied.
Losses of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the return of the bodies of dead soldiers
The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since June 14, according to TASS calculations based on data from the Russian military department, exceeded 14 thousand people killed and wounded. During the fighting, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost five tanks, more than 120 armored combat vehicles and over 350 vehicles. The Ukrainian troops lost 138 field artillery pieces.
Electronic warfare stations, counter-battery radars, and Western-style self-propelled artillery installations were also destroyed. Among the targets that were hit were HMMWV armored vehicles, M113 armored personnel carriers, AN/MPQ—64, AN/TPQ-50 and AN/TPQ-36 radar stations, 155-mm M777 howitzers, a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle manufactured in the United States, a British 155-mm self-propelled artillery AS-90, Polish Krab self-propelled guns..
Andrei Marochko shared with TASS the opinion that Kiev has practically no Soviet-style small arms left. "At the moment, there are practically no Soviet-made machine guns as trophies. Recently, Czech CZ 806 BREN 2 assault rifles of 5.56 x 45 caliber have become the main trophies in the Svatovo-Kremen area and the Seversky direction," he said .
On June 14, Russia handed over 1,200 bodies of dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Ukrainian side. At the same time, Ukraine has not transferred any to Russia. In total, during the indefinite sanitary exchanges within the framework of the Istanbul agreements, the Russian Federation transferred 6,060 bodies of Ukrainian officers and soldiers, and received 78 dead Russian servicemen. Prisoner exchanges are continuing.
Group strikes, hitting important targets
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on four night group strikes with precision-guided air, land and sea-based weapons involving unmanned aerial vehicles. The targets were facilities of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, as well as facilities of the fuel and energy complex supplying fuel to Ukrainian units. The military department has confirmed that all designated targets have been hit.
On June 25, the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage of a Geranium drone destroying a Ukrainian UAV assembly plant at Kramatorsk airfield. Judging by the video, the aircraft with a powerful warhead was equipped with a camera, with which the operator could accurately direct the Geranium at the affected object.
The Russian Armed Forces' air defense systems continued to destroy Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions. On the night of June 24, a UAV hit an apartment on the 17th floor of a high-rise building in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region. Two people were injured, and a pregnant woman was hospitalized with an acute stress reaction. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, promised to provide all necessary assistance to the victims.
In total, during the special military operation, Russian anti-aircraft gunners destroyed more than 65,000 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Iskander operational and tactical missile system (OTRK) continued to confirm its high combat characteristics. On June 15, Russian rocket launchers hit the command post of the Lugansk group of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On June 18, an OTRK missile destroyed a permanent deployment point of an AFU unit near Konotop, Sumy region. More than 60 Ukrainian military personnel, four warehouses, up to 50 vehicles, and drone control points were destroyed.
On June 22, an Iskander-M rocket with a cluster warhead struck an Armed Forces training ground located near the Davydov Brod settlement of the Kherson region. The submunitions exploded at the moment of the greatest concentration of military personnel. "The losses of the AFU personnel exceeded 70 people. An air defense team with a Taran-type interceptor drone covering the training ground was also destroyed, the Russian Defense Ministry said. On June 23, Iskander hit the training center for Ukrainian conscripts near the city of Sumy. As a result of the missile strike, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to up to 100 military personnel, up to 14 armored vehicles and units of motor vehicles.
Supplies of new weapons
On June 17, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Sergey Chemezov, head of Rostec State Corporation, with an annual report on the activities of Rostec, which unites over 800 organizations and more than 200 scientific institutions, for 2024. Rostec enterprises provide about half of the country's state defense order, and produce 80% of the weapons used in their defense. According to Chemezov, last year the production of armored vehicles increased 1.1 times, 1.3 times — ammunition for barrel artillery, 1.7 times — rockets, 2.1 times — ammunition for armored vehicles, including tanks. "This is only in one year, and if we compare with 2021, our production has increased tenfold," Chemezov said .
The head of Rostec spoke about the development of a new Sickle-VS13D electronic warfare system capable of detecting and suppressing previously invulnerable drones in a wider frequency range. A new version of the famous Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and cannon system with the SMD-E index helps to more effectively repel UAV attacks. Thanks to the use of mini-short-range interception missiles, the ammunition of the complex has increased fourfold. "Today, instead of 12 [missiles], there are 48. This is very important in order to provide protection from drones, because 12 missiles are sometimes not enough if there is a massive raid. But 48, of course, is much better, and our military is very happy about it," Chemezov said.
On June 25, the state corporation handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense another batch of Su-35S multi-role fighters. "During its development, the aircraft has proven itself to be the best in its class," said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec. — It allows you to use a wide range of weapons in the entire range of heights and speeds, to use the most complex types of piloting and combat equipment. These fighters show the best flight qualities, excellent characteristics of navigation and sighting systems. Our machines help to complete all the tasks set and bring victory closer."
