Interfax: Security forces interrogate truck driver after UAV attack on Average
The drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Siberia for the first time, the target was a military unit in the village of Sredny, Irkutsk region. The UAVs took off from trucks parked on the highway. Some participants in the terrorist attacks have already been detained, the Russian Defense Ministry said. In addition to the attack in the Irkutsk region, the Ukrainians also attacked airfields in the Murmansk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions.
What happened
On the first day of summer, Ukrainian drones attacked Siberia for the first time. The target of the attack was a military unit in the village of Sredny, Irkutsk region, Governor Igor Kobzev said in his Telegram channel .
According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.
Operational and security services have been pulled into place, and an operational headquarters has been set up.
Kobzev traveled to the Usolsky district and urged not to raise a wave of disinformation and believe only verified data, and also asked not to post videos and photos of the work of the air defense forces on social networks and not to share with anyone.
On the video from the scene, which Kobzev posted, smoke from the fire is visible - these are the remains of drones burning.
Where did the UAV launch from
According to the governor, the drones were launched from a truck. "The source from where the drones were released has already been blocked," the politician clarified.
According to the Telegram channel "Beware, news", the SBU first shipped FPV drones to Russia, and subsequently "mobile houses" for their storage. Drones were installed under the roofs of these "houses" hidden in trucks. The lids were opened remotely for attacks.
The attacked village of Sredny is located about 18 km from the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye. The distance from Irkutsk to it is 75 km.
Law enforcement officers are working with the truck driver after the attack in the village of Sredny, Interfax writes .
According to Baza, presumably, one of the trucks transporting the UAV did not reach its destination in the Amur region and exploded. The truck caught fire on the 1429 kilometer of the Chita - Khabarovsk highway, near the village of Seryshevo. The driver died.
The Ukrainka airfield is located near Seryshevo - it was not attacked.
Olenegorsk in the Murmansk region was attacked in a similar way: drones were also hidden in the back of trucks and launched an attack when the drivers parked the trucks. At the same time, the truckers might not know what kind of cargo they were transporting.
Operation "Web"
The Russian Defense Ministry called the attack a "terrorist attack." The ministry stressed that there were no casualties among military personnel and civilian personnel, and attacks on military airfields in the Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions were repelled.
Ukrainska Pravda writes that the operation called the "Web" was being prepared for more than a year and a half, and was allegedly personally supervised by President Vladimir Zelensky. The head of the SBU, Vasily Malyuk, was directly involved in the implementation.
According to the newspaper, Kiev allegedly managed to hit Russian strategic aviation aircraft at the Belaya base in the Irkutsk region, Diaghilev base in the Ryazan region, Olenya base in the Murmansk Region and Ivanovo base in the Ivanovo region.
The attacks occurred against the background of preparations for the second round of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations. The meeting is scheduled to take place on June 2 at 13:00 at the Chiragan Palace in Istanbul.
The Russian delegation has already left for Turkey.
