The new aerial reconnaissance units are equipped with modern Supercam S350 drones.
Reconnaissance units equipped with aircraft-type drones are being created in motorized rifle brigades. They will conduct reconnaissance and direct fire weapons at the identified targets. According to experts, such devices are necessary for the successful search for military installations deep in the enemy's defenses.
Tasks of the new divisions
Reconnaissance units of aircraft-type UAVs are being created in motorized rifle brigades, sources in the military department told Izvestia. They are equipped with Supercam S350 drones, which are used for aerial photography and video monitoring.
The main tasks of the new units are the reconnaissance of enemy fortifications and the guidance of heavy artillery. In addition, in the interests of motorized rifle units, they can target other fire weapons such as missile systems, tanks, and attack drones. All information from the devices is broadcast in real time.
"The creation of such units is natural and meets the requirements of modern warfare," Sergei Kurapov, a researcher at MGUTU, told Izvestia. — The fact that intelligence units are equipped with high-quality drones indicates a focus on the quality of combat missions performed. In those brigades where these drones already exist, their reliability and communication range are highly appreciated. The Supercam S350 is positioned as a guaranteed device that performs its tasks.

"Supercams" are actively used for tactical reconnaissance, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.
— They proved to be successful reconnaissance drones, proved their effectiveness, and now it is planned to scale up the practice of their use. These drones provide units with information about enemy actions. We need quite a lot of such devices," he explained.
The expert noted that such drones conduct reconnaissance not on the front line, where copters are operating, but at a distance, behind enemy lines.
— This is very important, because artillery is located in the rear, supply lines are running. Tactical drones should provide as much density as possible in this area. At the moment, the front line is almost transparent due to the large number of copters. But at a distance of 15-20 km, a lot of dark spots appear in the rear, which makes it possible to hide artillery and so on. Such drones should remove the "fog of war". Ultimately, if there are enough of them, they provide an advantage to our troops," concluded Yuri Lyamin.
Advantages of Supercam S350 drones
The Supercam S350 drone, originally used in the civilian field, has become one of the discoveries of a special military operation. It is designed according to the "flying wing" scheme and, thanks to the use of composite materials, is barely noticeable to enemy radars. A wide range of operating frequencies allows the device to operate even in conditions of electronic suppression.
The UAV is equipped with a pulling power plant located in the bow, and moves almost silently. It can stay in the air for 4.5 hours, has a maximum flight range of 240 km, a maximum take-off weight of 15.5 kg, and a ceiling of 3600 m. The wind speed range is up to 15 m/s, and the air temperature is -40 to +45 degrees.

In March, Andrei Martianov, commander of the unmanned aerial vehicle crew of the 1st Slavic Brigade of the Center group of Forces, told Izvestia about using the Supercam S350 for aerial photography and video monitoring of targets. He noted that thanks to the reconnaissance drone, Russian fighters quickly identify the AFU equipment. "Enemy tanks and artillery were found. Based on the heat signature, we either open it when they are firing. The flash is very clearly visible, especially from the large barrels, which are 155 mm, all of them are self—propelled, tracked howitzers, there are no problems, everything is detected, the disguise does not help them much. Especially in the thermal imager, it's all clearly visible," explained Martianov.
The improved version of the Supercam S350 now features interceptor detection and automatic anti-aircraft maneuvering to evade pursuit. "He has a spectrum analyzer, he appeared on board, respectively, after that the plane turns on the so—called snake — a sharp roll to the left, a sharp roll to the right - and tries to escape from the hunter drone along the snake," said the commander of the calculation.
Earlier, Izvestia reported that the artillery brigades had ru/1846771/bogdan-stepovoi-roman-krecul/cel-i-ukazania-v-artilleriiskih-brigadah-sozdany-diviziony-bpla " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">drone reconnaissance and strike divisions have been formed . They are armed with a range of drones and barrage ammunition. With the help of these systems, gunners find and destroy enemy guns, self-propelled artillery installations and multiple launch rocket systems, air defense systems and personnel both on the line of contact and behind enemy lines. Drones are effectively hunting for enemy UAV calculations, and they are successfully working on targets covered by electronic warfare.

And the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBZ) have begun special training for drone operators. During the training, the personnel get acquainted with the theory of application and the material part, as well as receive training in control, reconnaissance and fire correction using drones. Military personnel also receive knowledge on engineering training, military topography and tactical medicine. A sufficient number of instructors were trained in advance in the troops, who are able to train personnel to control various types of UAVs for the tasks of RCB protection.
Since the beginning of the special operation, Russia has been actively developing the production of drones and supplying troops with them. In December, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced that a new branch of the armed forces would be created — the troops of unmanned systems. Their formation will be completed in the third quarter of this year. Belousov noted that the massive use of drones has become the most significant breakthrough in the tactics of units of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the minister, Russian troops use more than 3,500 drones every day, and this figure is growing.
