Russia has developed a drone fighter, which is the upgraded Yak-52B2 light aircraft. This is reported by the Telegram channel "Military Informant".
Work on a domestic drone fighter based on a light-engine aircraft is continuing, at the moment, an upgraded Yak-52 sports and training aircraft is being offered in this capacity. According to the channel, one of the Russian aviation design bureaus has developed a new modification of the aircraft based on the experience of creating the Yak-52B light attack aircraft, which they tried to create during the Afghan war.
Allegedly, Cessna-172 and Yak-18T were also considered as drone fighters, on the basis of which relevant work was already carried out, but in the end the choice was still made on the Yak-52, which has much better characteristics. In addition, Russia has a fairly large fleet of Yak-52 aircraft.

As a result of the work carried out, the new Yak-52B2 drone fighter received a new on-board computer, an aerobatic navigation system, an all-round radar and a means of fire destruction. At the moment it is a semi-automatic carbine of 12 caliber. The aircraft is capable of flying at any time of the day, including in bad weather conditions. What is important is that the aircraft has a certificate of airworthiness, i.e. it does not need to be subjected to long flight tests. The on-board equipment is currently being debugged.
It is assumed that the new Yak-52B2 drone fighter will hunt Ukrainian aircraft-type drones launched in Russia.
